Tube Loading

Heat pipe tubes filled with copper powder are loaded into the furnace chamber (effective size: 400 x 400 x 650mm). Multiple tubes can be processed per batch, with fixture configurations adjustable to accommodate different tube diameters and lengths.

Vacuum & Pressure Application

The furnace chamber is sealed and evacuated to a vacuum degree of 10-1 torr. A working pressure of 20 tons is applied to the copper powder inside the tubes. The combination of vacuum environment and controlled mechanical pressure prevents oxidation during sintering and ensures the copper powder is compacted uniformly against the tube wall before the thermal cycle begins.

High-Temperature Sintering Cycle

The furnace temperature is raised to 850-950° C according to the set temperature profile. At this temperature, the copper powder particles begin to fuse — forming solid-state bonds between adjacent powder grains and between the powder layer and the copper tube wall. The HMI allows operators to set and monitor temperature ramp rates, hold temperatures, and dwell times to match the specific sintering profile required for different heat pipe specifications.

Water-Cooled Temperature Reduction

After the sintering dwell period is complete, the furnace uses a water-cooled system to reduce the chamber temperature. Water cooling accelerates the cooldown process compared to passive air cooling, reducing total cycle time and enabling higher batch throughput. The full working cycle — from loading to unloading — is approximately 10 hours per furnace run.

Unloading & Quality Inspection

Once the chamber has cooled to a safe handling temperature, the sintered heat pipe tubes are unloaded for visual and dimensional inspection before moving to the next production step — vacuum degassing and water injection.

All pressure and temperature parameters are adjustable via the HMI touchscreen, allowing the same furnace to be used across different heat pipe product specifications without hardware changeover.

Honestly, communication was the biggest surprise. I sent a message and got a real, detailed reply within hours — not a template. They actually understood what I was asking.

We had a lot of technical questions before placing the order. They answered every single one — no pressure, no rush. By the time we signed, we already felt like we knew the team.

What I appreciated most was that they kept us updated throughout production without us having to chase. Regular photos, test results, shipping updates — everything was proactive.

I've worked with several Chinese equipment suppliers before. ThermalSolution is different — their English is solid, their engineers reply directly, and when there's a problem, they say so clearly instead of going quiet. That honesty matters a lot to us.

FAQs

What temperature and vacuum level does your vacuum sintering furnace operate at?

The furnace operates at a standard working temperature of 850° C, with sintering cycle temperatures reaching 950-1000° C depending on the copper powder specification and wick structure requirements. The vacuum degree inside the furnace chamber reaches 10-1 torr, providing the oxygen-free environment required to prevent copper oxidation during the sintering process. All temperature and pressure parameters are adjustable via the HMI touchscreen to match your specific sintering profile.

What is the working pressure and effective chamber size of the sintering furnace?

The working pressure is 20 tons, applied to compact the copper powder against the tube wall during the sintering cycle. The effective chamber size is 400 x 400 x 650mm, allowing multiple heat pipe tubes to be sintered per batch. Fixture configurations can be adjusted to accommodate different tube diameters and lengths within the chamber dimensions.

How long does one sintering cycle take?

The complete working cycle — from loading to unloading — is approximately 10 hours per furnace run. This includes the temperature ramp-up phase, the sintering dwell period at 850-1000° C, and the water-cooled temperature reduction phase. Water cooling is used instead of passive air cooling to reduce the cooldown time and improve overall batch throughput compared to conventional sintering ovens.

Can the sintering furnace handle different heat pipe tube specifications?

Yes. The pressure and temperature parameters are fully adjustable via the HMI interface, allowing the same furnace to be used for different tube diameters, copper powder grades, wick thickness targets, and sintering profiles without hardware changeover. If your tube specifications fall outside the standard chamber dimensions or require a modified fixture design, our engineering team can configure a custom solution.

Can I order the vacuum sintering furnace as a standalone unit or as part of a complete line?

Both options are available. The vacuum sintering furnace can be ordered as a standalone copper wick sintering unit and integrated into your existing heat pipe production line. It can also be supplied together with copper powder filling machines, vacuum degassing equipment, water injection machines, automatic welders, and pipe bending machines as part of a complete integrated production line. We configure the equipment package based on your current setup and production targets.

Do you support OEM/ODM customization for non-standard sintering requirements?

Yes. We provide OEM/ODM equipment customization for vacuum sintering furnaces. If your process requires a different chamber size, higher working pressure, extended temperature range, modified vacuum system configuration, or integration with specific upstream or downstream equipment, our engineering team can develop a customized sintering furnace solution. Contact us with your process specifications and production requirements.

Can I test the furnace with my own tube samples before placing an order?

Yes. We support process validation before order confirmation. You can send your tube samples and copper powder specifications to our Kunshan facility, and we will run a sintering trial on our furnace to verify wick formation quality, density, dimensional consistency, and compatibility with your downstream degassing and testing requirements. This helps confirm the correct furnace configuration and sintering parameters before production.

Learn More About Vacuum Sintering Furnaces for Heat Pipe Production

Whether you are sourcing a vacuum sintering furnace for a new heat pipe production line or evaluating copper wick sintering equipment to upgrade your existing process, understanding the key technical and operational factors behind sintering furnace selection will help you make a more informed purchasing decision.

A vacuum sintering furnace — also referred to as a copper sintering oven, heat pipe sintering furnace, or copper wick sintering machine — is used in heat pipe manufacturing to bond copper powder to the inner wall of the heat pipe tube, forming the sintered wick structure that enables capillary-driven fluid circulation inside the finished heat pipe. The quality of the sintered wick — including its porosity, density, uniformity, and adhesion to the tube wall — directly determines the thermal resistance, maximum heat transport capacity, and operating reliability of the heat pipe. This makes the sintering furnace one of the most technically critical pieces of equipment in the entire heat pipe production process.

The key parameters to evaluate when selecting a copper wick sintering furnace are operating temperature range, vacuum degree, working pressure, chamber size, cooling method, and cycle time. Higher operating temperatures (850-1000°C) enable complete copper powder sintering with strong inter-particle bonding and good tube wall adhesion. Vacuum conditions (10-1 torr or better) prevent copper oxidation during the thermal cycle, which would otherwise degrade wick conductivity and heat pipe performance. Working pressure compacts the powder uniformly before sintering begins, ensuring consistent wick thickness and density across the tube cross-section. Chamber size determines batch capacity — larger chambers allow more tubes per cycle and higher throughput at the sintering station. Water-cooled systems reduce cycle time compared to air-cooled furnaces, improving overall production line efficiency.

Our vacuum sintering furnace operates at temperatures up to 950-1000°C during the sintering cycle, with a vacuum degree of 10-1 torr, a working pressure of 20 tons, and an effective chamber size of 400 x 400 x 650mm. The water-cooled system enables a complete cycle time of approximately 10 hours per furnace run. All parameters — temperature ramp rate, hold temperature, dwell time, and working pressure — are fully adjustable via HMI touchscreen, allowing the same furnace to be used across different heat pipe product specifications without hardware modification.

The vacuum sintering furnace can be supplied as a standalone copper powder sintering unit for integration into an existing heat pipe production line, or as part of a complete automated heat pipe manufacturing line alongside copper powder filling machines, vacuum degassing equipment, automatic water injection machines, automatic welders, pipe bending machines, and thermal performance testing systems — all available from Cooling-Thermalas a single-source heat pipe production equipment supplier.

If you are evaluating vacuum sintering furnace suppliers for heat pipe or vapor chamber manufacturing, contact our engineering team to discuss your copper powder specifications, sintering profile requirements, chamber size needs, and production line integration. We provide OEM/ODM custom sintering furnace solutions with process validation available before order confirmation.
